What a great group of girls!
Maizy started swim lessons at Utah State University, when she was 11 years old.  She’s a quick learner and worked her way right up the levels.  The student teachers started a new swim club and told the kids they would be competing throughout the season.  Truth is, they scrimmaged one time and there really wasn’t much for competition.  For example, Maizy swam against a couple 14 yr old boys and came in second, if I recall.  She became bored with only practicing and looked for a different sport to fill her time with.  She found a local competitive soccer club and tried out.  For 3 and a half years she played her heart out on the soccer field.  As a family of 7, we too chased her  in, out, and all around Utah.  We love watching Maizy compete.  She’s a very determined enthusiastic player and gives it her all, 110% of the time.
Now that we’ve landed back in Michigan, Maizy has found her spot on the Allegan High School Swim & Dive team and is more than thrilled to be training and swimming with this wonderful group of girls and Coach Mark Mattox!  Our team is small.  Some of the schools we are competing against have 3X the amount of swimmers and divers that make up our team.  We may not win many meets overall, but these girls take the top times in the individual races, left and right!  Peyton (middle top) already tied a school record and qualified for state in a couple events, before the school year even started.
We’re excited Maizy chose to join the swim team and happy they have accepted her with open arms.
GO TIGERS!!
This past Thursday, coach set aside time in their schedule for a FUNtastic photo shoot!  We all piled in our big van and our Volkswagen bus and set out for Holland State Park.  We stopped by Making Waves, in Holland, for some quick grab’n go shopping, then on to the beach.  It was a beautiful day and we had tons of fun!  I know the girls are all dying to see how their photos turned out… so here they are!
Enjoy girls! Â I’ll have a link to your gallery, filled with all of the images, soon.
Thanks again!
